1) Why do you want to be an artist?
I want to be an artist because art (of all genres) has always made up a large part of my life, and it has always been something I enjoy experiencing and immersing myself in. Art has always been there to keep me balanced whether it was through my own creations or through the viewing of others work(s). I hope through my art I can give others a sense of balance and encouragement, or even just the ability to make just one person change their attitude or question how they feel about the world around them.
2)Who is your favorite artist and why?
This is always a hard question for me to answer, but one that I feel comes up so often. I always think of the more "classic" artists right away, artists that I think everyone could agree produced magnificent works of art, but then after a while I start thinking of how many different genres of art and artists there are now. I don't think I can at the moment pin point one artist who I can put up on a pedestal above others. I am still learning so much about art and artists out there that I think I have to leave this question open ended.
Short Personal Biography on Me:
I grew up in Wilton,CT, a small New England town on the coast, just a short forty minute drive from New York City. I am half Italian and half Irish, and family is a very important aspect of my life. I was your average kid growing up, and have probably tried every sport or hobby you could think of. I am hesitant to use the word privileged, but I will say I was lucky to have parents who have sacrificed so much to give me an amazing education and show me so much of the world. I have one older sister, Kerry who has also chosen a more artistic profession as an Architect. As kids my sister and I were always encouraged to be artistic and have a what I would call an aesthetic attitude towards the world. Now that I am at CU I hope to continue to expand my knowledge in the arts and hopefully use my acquired skills to get a job that is fulfilling and prolific.
